About Us
Every object in this collection was made by hand, and everyone we work with is well compensated for their craft. In most cases, 80% of the final price goes to the maker.
Some pieces are designed and built in our own workshop. Others are made in partnership with independent craftspeople, family businesses, and small producers throughout Mexico. A select number are objects we encounter and choose to represent simply because we believe they are exceptional.
We collaborate with producers in our community and with makers from regions known for particular forms of expertise—from woven rugs and pillows made in Oaxaca to hammocks produced in the Yucatán and along Mexico’s Pacific coast, as well as original paintings and works of art, fine leather goods, and small-batch foods made by independent producers.
The majority of our offerings are produced in a space called El Colaboratorio, a cooperative workshop in Comala, Colima—a Pueblo Mágico set beneath the twin peaks of the Nevado de Colima and Volcán de Colima. In our shop, craftspeople make each object by hand using the finest materials and techniques. Some are singular works. Others are produced in small quantities. Still others are artisan-made and available to ship the following day. Each piece takes the time it takes. We consider that a feature.
We think the most meaningful way to honor limited and valuable resources is to make something exceptional from them. Longevity is therefore central to our understanding of sustainability—a table should last much longer than the tree took to mature. Sustaining the craft also means creating opportunities for others to learn these techniques and build a life from them, while ensuring that the people making the work are paid well.
Every purchase directly supports the craftspeople who made it and the programs that train the next generation.
These are not products designed to be replaced. They are objects designed to be kept, used daily, repaired when needed, and handed on.
